On Monday, November 23rd 2020, WIA-Canada hosted a very special web-based workshop based on Gallup’s CliftonStrengthsTM program, entitled: Your Talent DNA. As I began my review, I thought of the words a very wise man once wrote: “Why fit in when you were born to stand out?”- Dr. Seuss
After many months of being on “pause”, the world is ready to hit the “play” button again. How will that new normal look? What have we done to prepare ourselves for our future? Getting back to the quote, it occurred to me that perhaps we need to envision our organizations in terms of people fitting in because they were born to stand out.
Understanding our strengths is a significant and necessary step in showcasing our unique talents, thereby providing organizations the opportunity to maximize and leverage those talents, both on an individual and collaborative level. That premise is backed up by the fact that the overwhelming majority of Fortune 500 companies and over 23 million individuals have taken the assessment worldwide and have benefited from having done so.
The workshop facilitator, Elizabeth Yorski from Strengths Consulting Canada brought her expertise to develop and deliver the workshop. It was no simple undertaking to condense such a rich, voluminous program which is normally conducted over a dozen or more hours into a small two-hour window. For anyone wishing to explore the program further, Elizabeth can be reached at elizabeth@strengthsconsultingcanada.com
And for all those who are not above taking advice from a children’s author, I would like to leave you with another one of his quotes; one which could have been written about the Strengths program: “Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you!” – Dr. Seuss
