Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream – Aerospace Engineering
Full-time teaching stream position at UTIAS, starting July 1, 2027. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in aeronautics, spacecraft engineering or aerospace robotics.
What you would do
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, including lecture preparation, curriculum development and online material
- Engage in pedagogical inquiry and teaching-related scholarly activity
- Carry a teaching and service load within the Institute
What they are looking for
- PhD in aerospace engineering or a related area by the time of appointment, or shortly after
- P.Eng. registration in Ontario, or eligibility to obtain it
- Teaching experience in a degree-granting program, with evidence of teaching excellence
Assistant Professor – Aerospace Engineering (Aeronautics)

Capture Manager – Payload
Lead the front end of the business for MDA’s satellite payload line, from capture strategy and pricing through proposals and customer presentations.
What you would do
- Develop and execute capture plans to win new satellite payload business
- Work with customers to define the system solution that best fits their needs
- Lead proposals, costing, pricing and customer presentations, then hand off to the program team
What they are looking for
- Engineering degree or equivalent technical or business education
- 10+ years in a relevant technical field, ideally with satellite subsystem exposure
- Analog and digital payload background and French are assets
- Eligible for reliability clearance, Controlled Goods Program and ITAR
Subcontract Manager
Manage supplier contracts for satellite programs, from supplier selection and negotiation through product development and delivery.
What you would do
- Support supplier selection and negotiate commercial terms
- Ensure supplier contract adherence and negotiate changes as programs progress
- Lead continuous improvement across the subcontract management process
What they are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration, or equivalent
- 7 to 10 years of related experience
- Strong negotiation, project management and financial management skills
- Knowledge of contracts and legal terminology is an asset
Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager
Be the subject matter expert for health, safety and environmental programs at the Montreal facility, and build a zero-injury culture across operations.
What you would do
- Lead and mentor EHS specialists, coordinators and advisors
- Implement and maintain the EHS management system to meet federal, provincial and municipal legislation
- Co-chair the Joint Health & Safety Committee and report on EHS performance and risks
What they are looking for
- Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related discipline
- EHS accreditation such as CRSP, CIH, CHSC or CSP
- 9+ years of progressive EHS experience in industrial or engineering settings

Program Manager Engineering
Manage space programs on the Robotics & Space Operations team, from ISS servicing to deep space exploration and new R&D, for domestic and international customers.
What you would do
- Lead multidisciplinary program teams to technical, schedule, cost and revenue targets
- Identify and manage program risks, escalate issues and manage customer expectations
- Run program reviews, design reviews and customer progress meetings

- 5+ years of program management in the space, aerospace or defence sector
- Track record leading cross-functional teams on projects of $10M or more
- Experience with earned value, MS Project and gated program processes
Mechanical Engineering Manager
Lead a large mechanical engineering team through the full design lifecycle, from concept and design release to qualification, delivery and mission operations support.
What you would do
- Set direction and strategy for the mechanical engineering teams
- Establish, standardize and modernize engineering processes, standards and tools
- Validate costed technical solutions in proposals and oversee engineering quality and manufacturability

- Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- 10+ years of broad engineering experience across all program phases
- 5+ years managing or leading engineering teams
- Strong grasp of mechanism analysis, component selection and GD&T
Sr Manager – Business Capture
Lead pursuit initiatives in MDA’s Geointelligence business, developing capture plans and proposals for Earth observation opportunities with customers around the world.
What you would do
- Develop and execute capture plans and strategies for identified opportunities
- Manage the end-to-end bidding process, including defining the solution with the technical team
- Build partner relationships, track competitors and monitor institutional procurement notices

- Direct experience in the Earth observation value chain
- Experience managing complex bid preparation processes
- International business development and government procurement knowledge
Manager – Mechanical Design/Mechanical Engineering
Lead a large Design Office team through the full design lifecycle, from concept through design release, manufacture, qualification and delivery.
What you would do
- Set direction and strategy for the mechanical design teams
- Establish, standardize and modernize Design Office processes, standards and tools
- Monitor design and detailing outputs for quality and manufacturability, and validate proposal solutions

- Diploma or degree in mechanical design, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or equivalent
- 10+ years of broad engineering experience across all program phases
- 5+ years of people management or technical leadership
- Deep knowledge of GD&T and drafting standards, with strong Siemens NX and Teamcenter skills
Senior Digital-Analog PCB Designer
Lead a team of hardware designers on mixed-signal (digital and RF) printed circuit boards for satellites.
What you would do
- Lead the digital and analog design of PCBs for the space environment
- Convert board-level requirements into a design concept covering architecture, I/Os, key parts and power
- Coordinate with FPGA, software and test designers, and coach junior designers and interns
What they are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering, or equivalent
- 10+ years designing processor, digital, analog, high-speed or mixed-signal PCBs

Manager – Systems Engineering
Lead and grow the Systems Engineering organization so it has the capability, capacity and leadership to deliver MDA’s products and programs.
What you would do
- Lead and develop a team of systems engineers

- Own recruitment, development, engagement and performance management, plus resource forecasting and capacity planning

Staff Systems Engineer, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Missions
Provide end-to-end systems engineering oversight for MDA’s world-leading synthetic aperture radar missions across the full mission lifecycle.
What you would do
- Lead mission concept of operations and high-level mission specifications
- Lead technical solutioning for enhancements to existing and future SAR missions, including beam mode design
- Lead mission-level risk management, integration, verification and validation, and design trade studies
What they are looking for
- Graduate degree in electrical engineering, engineering physics, math, physics or a related field
- 15+ years with radar, SAR or similar active imaging systems
- 10+ years in a space or complex systems engineering environment

Grant Writer
Lead the funding applications that power WIA Canada’s programs and national initiatives. Contract, part-time consulting or project-based, structured around your availability.
What you would do
- Identify and pursue government, foundation and corporate funding opportunities
- Write proposals with needs assessments, budgets and evaluation frameworks
- Maintain the grant pipeline and prepare compliance and progress reports
- Advise leadership and the Board on funding strategy
What we are looking for
- 3 to 7 years in grant writing, nonprofit development or a related field
- Experience with federal or provincial grants, ideally in workforce development, gender equity or STEM
- Exceptional writing and storytelling, strong research skills and clear communication
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, public policy, communications or related field

Volunteer Lead
Lead WIA Canada’s volunteer program in your city, from recruiting and onboarding volunteers to planning and delivering the events where WIA represents the aerospace community. Open in Montreal, Toronto and Calgary.
Key Responsibilities
- Review volunteer applications, conduct introductory calls, and onboard new volunteers.
- Deliver quarterly orientation sessions introducing volunteers to WIA Canada’s events, expectations, and onboarding process.
- Develop volunteer benefits and recognition initiatives, and help volunteers strengthen their knowledge of the aerospace community.
- Support an active, connected volunteer community through engagement initiatives coordinated with the Project Manager.
- Plan outreach events featuring engaging activities that introduce the wider community to aviation and aerospace.
- Coordinate a pre-event briefing and dry run before each event, ensuring volunteers and WIA representatives understand their roles and event logistics.
- Coordinate the preparation, inventory, and distribution of WIA Canada merchandise and event materials.
- Attend at least three in-person events per month to coordinate volunteers, oversee on-site logistics, and lead post-event follow-up.
Qualifications and Requirements
- At least one year of active volunteer experience with WIA Canada.
- Experience leading or coordinating a team, committee, or student organization.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with a responsive, approachable, and collaborative working style.
- Based in Montreal, Toronto or Calgary, with availability to attend at least three in-person events per month in your city.
- Proficiency with collaboration tools, including Microsoft 365 and Teams.

Outreach Coordinator
Help strengthen WIA Canada’s connections across the aerospace community and support engaging events across our chapters. Working closely with the Project Manager and chapter teams, you will identify outreach opportunities, build relationships, and help coordinate the venues, materials, and partnerships that make our events successful.
What you would do
- Identify relevant events, organizations, and partnership opportunities across all WIA Canada chapters to expand our community presence.
- Build and maintain relationships with aerospace companies, educational institutions, community organizations, and event organizers.
- Explore opportunities for WIA Canada to participate in industry and community events, strengthening engagement with the broader aerospace community.
- Support event planning by researching venues, gathering quotes, and assessing suitability, accessibility, and logistical requirements.
- Identify and coordinate materials, equipment, merchandise, and promotional items needed for events.
- Work with the Project Manager, chapter teams, and volunteers to support event preparation and delivery.
- Lead silent auction and in-kind sponsorship outreach by identifying potential partners, preparing tailored requests, and coordinating items, services, and experiences that enhance WIA Canada’s events.
- Maintain records of outreach contacts, venue options, silent auction items, and in-kind contributions, and coordinate partner recognition and follow-up.
What we are looking for
- Experience in outreach, relationship building, event coordination, or community engagement. Student and volunteer experience are welcome.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence approaching potential partners and sponsors.
- Strong research and organizational skills, with attention to detail and consistent follow-through.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work with teams across different chapters.
- Comfort using Microsoft 365 and Teams.
- An interest in aviation, aerospace, and supporting women in the industry.
- Experience with silent auctions, in-kind sponsorships, or partner outreach is an asset.

What you would do
- Design graphics for LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook, including event announcements, community highlights, and promotional campaigns.
- Create materials for digital and print use, including posters, flyers, banners, presentations, and event signage.
- Design branded merchandise and promotional items, and prepare print-ready artwork in line with supplier specifications.
- Develop reusable templates to maintain a consistent visual identity across WIA Canada’s communications.
- Adapt designs for different platforms, formats, and dimensions.
- Collaborate with social media and event volunteers to understand design needs and meet project timelines.
- Incorporate feedback and prepare final designs for approval before publication or printing.
- Organize design files and maintain a shared collection of templates and visual assets.
- Ensure designs are clear, accessible, and aligned with WIA Canada’s brand guidelines.
What we are looking for
- Graphic design experience demonstrated through a portfolio or examples of previous work. Student, personal, and volunteer projects are welcome.
- Proficiency in Canva; experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign is an asset.
- A strong understanding of layout, typography, colour, and visual hierarchy.
- Familiarity with preparing designs for social media and print.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines and incorporate feedback.
- A collaborative approach and comfort using Microsoft 365 and Teams.

What you would do
- Develop and maintain a social media content calendar in collaboration with the Project Manager.
- Write and schedule posts for WIA Canada’s LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook channels.
- Collaborate with graphic design volunteers to create visually engaging content consistent with WIA Canada’s branding.
- Promote upcoming events, membership opportunities, volunteer roles, and community initiatives.
- Coordinate with event volunteers to gather photos, videos, and highlights for timely event coverage.
- Create short videos, reels, and stories that showcase WIA Canada’s activities and community.
- Monitor comments and messages, respond to routine inquiries, and direct questions to the appropriate team member.
- Track engagement and recommend ways to improve content and reach.
- Ensure content is accurate, accessible, and approved before publication.
What we are looking for
- Experience managing social media for an organization, student group, community initiative, or personal project.
