Montreal’s aerospace industry is driven by innovation, but its greatest strength has always been its people. This summer, Women in Aerospace (WIA) Montreal brought together an inspiring community of women from across the aerospace ecosystem for an evening of meaningful conversations, mentorship, and genuine connection.
The event welcomed professionals at every stage of their careers, from students and recent graduates taking their first steps into the industry to experienced leaders eager to share their knowledge. What began as simple introductions quickly evolved into conversations about career paths, résumé building, leadership, and the realities of navigating the aerospace world.
For many volunteers, the evening was especially meaningful. Not long ago, they were the students seeking advice, building their networks, and wondering what the next step in their careers would look like. Today, they find themselves on the other side of those conversations, offering guidance while continuing to learn from seasoned professionals. It is a full-circle moment that reflects the strength of a community where knowledge is not only accumulated but shared.

Yet what truly sets this community apart is its willingness to invest in one another. The spirit of the evening did not end when the event concluded. After the participants had departed, the volunteers stayed behind to share a meal, reflect on the event, and continue the conversations that had begun throughout the evening. Those moments of connection naturally sparked ideas for future gatherings, including a community potluck, where relationships could continue to grow beyond formal networking events.
Perhaps that is the greatest achievement of evenings like these. They remind us that despite coming from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds, we are united by a shared passion for aerospace and a common commitment to lifting one another up. The diversity of our experiences becomes our greatest strength, creating an environment where everyone has something to teach and something to learn.
