A free, hands-on day in a working hangar
Girls in Aviation Day is a Women in Aviation International event, now in its 12th year and held around the world on the same day. The Toronto-area edition is run by the WAI Upper Canada Chapter at the Porter hangar at Toronto Pearson.
The day invites girls and young women to explore aviation and aerospace across a wide range of career paths. Every booth runs a fun, interactive craft or activity that introduces a different career in an age-appropriate way, alongside hands-on STEM, conversations with women working in the industry, and guidance on postsecondary study.
Every participant goes home with a backpack of donated swag and take-home projects, plus an activity passport to track the booths they visit. Scouts and Guides can earn a special patch for their campfire blanket.
Find the WIA-Canada booth for our own hands-on activity, and to talk with our team about what a career in aerospace actually looks like — whether you are choosing courses, picking a program, or just curious.
Three reasons to come find us
Our booth is one stop on the activity passport. Here is what is waiting at it.
An activity you actually do
Not a pamphlet and a smile. Our booth runs a hands-on activity built to show what one aerospace career really involves, pitched to the age of whoever sits down.
Ask us anything about the work
Our volunteers work across Canadian aerospace. Ask what a normal day looks like, what they studied, and what they wish someone had told them at your age.
Where to go after today
Parents and teachers: we can point you at scholarships, programs and youth opportunities across Canada, so the interest that starts here has somewhere to go next.
