The Women in Aerospace Canada Board of Directors is looking to appoint new members to fill some vacancies. This is an open call to the WIA-Canada membership. The Board will be accepting applications up until 30 April 2024, 5pm Eastern. A list of potential candidates for the Board of Directors will be developed from the submissions and offers will be presented by 31 May 2024.
To be considered for the Board, you must have a WIA-Canada membership in good standing. You must embody the core values of the organization and be committed to growing and strengthening the community we serve in fulfilling our mission and objectives.
The Board strives to ensure diversity in terms of sector experience, regional representation, ethnicity, and gender. The Board is a working board, made up entirely of volunteers. It is important that Board members are committed to attend all monthly Board meetings as well as planned events.
This year, we are specifically recruiting Board Directors for the following roles:
- Board Secretary – responsible for proactively collaborating with board members to set up meetings, giving proper notice of any meetings, and promptly distributing materials like agendas and minutes.
- Fundraising Committee Chair – lead the planning, development, management, and implementation of the organization’s fundraising plan.
- Corporate Programing Chair – lead the planning, development, management, and implementation of programing for Corporate Members.
Other responsibilities include:
- Plan and lead activities and events
- Ensure adequate financial resources and provide proper financial oversight
- Enhance the organization’s public standing by articulating the organization’s mission and goals to the aerospace community
- Grow membership and support fundraising efforts
- Promote WIA Programing through professional network
- Contribute to providing resource materials to our members
- Represent WIA at industry events
