Women in Aerospace Canada

After careful consideration and much deliberation, Women in Aerospace Canada has decided to level the playing field and make the Membership Rates the same across the country.  While this may be seen as an unpopular decision by some, particularly as this pandemic continues to affect us and our industry in countless ways, we wish to recognize that it’s not all negative.  The ability to pivot to virtual events has allowed us to bridged the geographical divides that previously justified different regional pricing.  Most of our events now boast national, even international, representation, thereby allowing attendees to grow their network by leaps and bounds.  Although we haven’t been able to meet in person, Women in Aerospace Canada remains a vibrant national organization committed to its members and the professional advancement of women in this industry.  We are thankful for the support your membership affords Women in Aerospace Canada and we will continue investing in high quality engagements on your behalf.  So don’t delay, join/renew today!

Women in Aerospace Canada recognizes its operations span the diverse traditional territories of the Indigenous People of Canada who called this land home before the arrival of colonizing settlers. We recognize the role we can play as an organization and we declare our commitment to reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples.  WIA Canada’s Statement of Reconciliation is unanimously approved by all directors; strengthening our dedication to reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples and communities in Canada. It is reflective of WIA’s commitment to its values of equality, inclusiveness, collaboration, and professional development. At WIA we are aware of the impact that colonial actions and residential schools have had on Indigenous Peoples; we are committed to understanding past injustices and will continue to strive for a better future.

WIA is committed to playing our role in addressing the Calls to Action by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission:

• 92iii. Provide education for management and staff on the history of Aboriginal Peoples, including the history and legacy of residential schools, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Treaties and Aboriginal rights, Indigenous law, and Aboriginal Crown relations. This will require skills-based training in intercultural competency, conflict resolution, human rights, and anti-racism.
• Our programs focus on supporting professional development of all underrepresented groups in Canada, and we are committed to ensure Indigenous Peoples’ access to our services.
• Beyond a Statement of Reconciliation WIA will develop and implement an Action Plan which will be reviewed regularly.

WIA recognizes true reconciliation goes above the 94 calls to action by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada and we are committed to continue the journey of reconciliation.
