Why is this event important?

Aviation, aerospace, and other similar industries are experiencing skyrocketing growth, however, we’re still behind the curve when it comes to retaining women in the industry as a whole. Moreso, we’re lacking when it comes to women in C-Suite levels across businesses, with women making up approximately 27% of the workforce. (ISED)

Bombardier and WIA Canada are looking to change that. By leveraging our connections and networks, we’re looking to change the narrative that women need to change in order to fit into industries that have typically not been welcoming in the first place. Instead, we’re meeting women where they’re at. It’s important that as generations grow and we evolve, so do business practices. In fact, by 2028 the Canadian Council for Aviation and Aerospace estimates that the aviation and aerospace industry will need an additional 58,000 workers in key skilled occupations (Government of Canada). It’s imperative that we encourage women to follow STEM fields and create support and initiatives around women in STEM to continue growing as an industry.
