WIA Canada’s – 4th Annual Virtual Book Club

Nov 14, 2024

Session One – Begins December 3, 2024 @ 7:00pm ET. Future sessions dates will be posted closer to the start of the Book Club.

Welcome to Women in Aerospace Canada’s book club! Based on great feedback from last year, we will be hosting our 4th annual Virtual Book Club. The purpose of the Book Club is to be a forum for all genders in the Aerospace industry and other related sectors to discuss their experiences in the workplace.

Who Should Attend: The Book Club session is perfect for anyone who loves reading, enjoys thoughtful discussion, and wants to connect with others who share a passion for books — especially those eager to inspire positive change in their community and work through the power of storytelling and fresh perspectives.

With the help of articles/videos and one book, each session will tackle a particular topic including diversity, equality, the importance of women in the Aerospace industry (and other related sectors), and challenges that underrepresented groups may face in the workforce today.

This year’s book will be: Don’t Fix Women by Joy Burnford 2022

Don’t Fix Women reveals how achieving gender balance at work isn’t about ‘fixing’ the women, it’s about changing the system. Packed with simple, practical recommendations, this book provides a route-map to improve gender equality in your organization, develop a truly diverse, modern leadership culture, and reap the rewards that this brings.

Details on the selected article or video will be available in advance of the first session.

A WIA-Canada representative will moderate each session with the support of other WIA members and/or industry leaders facilitating conversations around the articles/videos and how they relate to our lives. This may include lessons we took from the articles/videos, anything of particular interest relating to challenges faced in the workplace, and suggestions of what more can and should be done to eliminate exclusionary behavior. Each session will run from 60 to 90 minutes.

Don’t miss the chance to meet the author, who will be joining one of the sessions!
