Discover I Develop I Deliver
Monday, November 23, 11:00am – 1:00pm EST
” Most people think they know what they are good at. They are usually wrong. And yet, a person can perform only from strength.” – Business guru Peter Drucker
We start with the question, “Do you get to do what you do best every day?“
At this time, during a pandemic, many women and men have been affected by significant challenges: work schedules, layoffs and furloughs all the while juggling the demands of family, childcare and self-care. WIA-Canada would like to take advantage of this time due to the pandemic when in-person training is suspended, to provide you with an opportunity for renewal and creativity.
It is time to become better acquainted with your own strengths and to better see how these strengths complement and enhance the teams in which you are involved. Once you Discover your natural talents and Develop them into action able strengths, you will ultimately Deliver on whatever you choose to accomplish.
This program will let participants know what makes you talented and unique, so you know how to perform better in your job. You will learn how to build better relationships and be a better teammate. And to feel like you are improving, every single day.
It all starts with Clifton Strengths™ online assessment tool (used by 90% of Fortune 500 companies and completed by more the 24 million people worldwide). It identifies an individual’s natural occurring way of thinking, feeling, and behaving. This is Your Talent DNA. It explains the unique ways you accomplish your goals by building relationships, thinking strategically, executing plans, and influencingothers. Ultimately, this knowledge is essential to empowering managers, developing employees, and improving overall organizational performance.
Barry Koen-Butt is a Gallup-certified Strengths Coach™ who provides authentic access, materials, and resources available through the Gallup organization. His corporate background comes from senior-level Communications and Public Management and has completed a Workplace Mental Health Leadership Certificate program from Queen’s University.

Program Delivery Details
Strengths Consulting Canada will:
- Provide access codes and instructions for completing the Clifton Strengths™
- By choice of the participant, a Top 5 or All 34 Strength report is available
- There is no obligation to retake an assessment when one is already available
- Create personalized workbooks for each participant that is used as pre-work and during the session.
- Deliver one 2-hour online session
The online assessment is comprised of 177 questions. Each question is timed to be answered in 20 seconds to avoid overthinking the response. The assessment takes approximately 40 minutes to answer. If there is a need, it can be completed with modifications. (Please reach out to the facilitators before attempting the assessment if this is the case).
The workbook is customized to reflect a typical scenario that participants would encounter. The scenario is based on the Harvard case study method. The method is a discussion of real-life situations that a participant has encountered. The objective of the case study is to understand how different people process the same information to arrive at different conclusions. There is no search for a right or wrong way but rather the case study provides a vehicle to appreciate the reasons why and how decisions are made.
The session will be conducted via Zoom and its feature of breakout groups to allow for candid conversation and personal interaction. The small groups provide an opportunity for everyone to participate and/or listen attentively without feeling the pressures that a larger could inject. The participants take the time to reflect on how they personally would respond in these situations and what motivators and demotivators they are likely to grapple with.
Self-awareness techniques are part of each session. They teach the participants how to be aware of their actions and what environment or triggers enable one reaction over another. Self-awareness brings the participants to a deeper and more meaningful understanding of who they are that is positive and genuine.
