Downsview Aerospace Innovation & Research (DAIR) is a consortium of large aeronautics and space companies, and leading post-secondary institutions from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), who have come together to develop a physical aerospace hub at Downsview Park in Toronto, Ontario.  The objective of the DAIR consortium is to strengthen Canada’s aerospace sector by increasing collaborative research and development, accelerating technology adoption, and addressing the projected skills shortage in the aerospace industry.  The DAIR hub, which will consist of educational institutions, research labs, shared space and equipment, office space, and training space, will also continue Downsview’s tradition of world-class aerospace and aviation, a legacy that began with De Havilland in the 1920s.

The DAIR hub currently consists of two buildings.  One is the Ryerson Aerospace Engineering Centre, a 7,300 ft2aerospace lab, where students and faculty work on R&D projects.  The second is Centennial College’s 130,000 ft2Aerospace and Aviation Campus, which opened in 2019.  This training and research facility will enable the College’s aerospace enrolment to grow to 1,000 students.  The campus is also used for meetings and events, and will be used for broader training programs designed for the aerospace sector.  The tour of Centennial College will include its state-of-the-art labs – avionics, electrical, CNC, automation and robotics, composites, engine, materials testing – and its two aircraft hangers.
